President El-Sisi of Egypt Orders Immediate Implementation of 180 Billion-Pound Social Protection Package

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait today.

Presidential Spokesman Dr. Ahmed Fahmy stated that the President was briefed on the current economic situation and the government’s efforts to control commodity prices, reduce inflation, and stabilize the macro economy.

President El-Sisi instructed the government to urgently ease the financial burden on citizens and minimize the impact of economic crises. He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing these issues and ensuring the well-being of citizens.

The President ordered the implementation of a 180-billion-pound urgent social protection package, including wage increases for public-sector employees and economic entities, early payment of periodic allowances, and additional incentives. This package also includes additional increases for doctors, nurses, teachers, and university faculty staff, as well as the appointment of 120,000 members of the medical profession, teachers, and other administrative employees.

Additionally, the social package features a 15% increase in pensions for 13 million citizens, a 15% increase in “Takaful and Karama” pensions, and a 33% raise in the tax exemption limit for government and private sector employees.
