Egypt’s President El-Sisi holds meeting with France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné, today. Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also attended the meeting.

Presidency Spokesman, Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, stated that the meeting discussed bilateral relations. Minister Séjourné conveyed President Emmanuel Macron’s greetings to President El-Sisi. The two sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and cooperation, reflecting the alignment of visions and interests and strengthening strategic relations between Egypt and France. They also discussed cooperation in transport, manufacturing, trade, and other sectors, as well as the historical and cultural relations between the two peoples.

The meeting also addressed the situation in Gaza, with a focus on Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire and provide humanitarian aid. The French Minister affirmed France’s commitment to coordinating efforts with Egypt. Both countries agreed on the need to reinvigorate the two-state solution and restore security and stability in the Middle East.

Egypt and France reiterated their rejection of measures aiming to displace Palestinians from their lands and emphasized the important role of UNRWA in providing aid to the people of Gaza. The talks also covered political situations in Sudan, Libya, and the Red Sea, with both sides emphasizing the importance of contributing to regional and international peace and security.
