Crypto’s interpretation of the popular investment reality show Shark Tank has recently wrapped up its first season, resulting in numerous ambitious blockchain projects and over $35 million in investments commitments. Known as CryptoKnights, the show brought together key figures in the Web3 space to assess and fund promising crypto startups.

Initiated by Ritestream CEO Riaz Mehta and steered by Chief Strategist Joseph Khan, CryptoKnights swiftly gained popularity among crypto enthusiasts and mainstream audiences. Its unique format offered a peek into the swiftly advancing world of decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain innovation.

Season 1 showcased 15 standout projects selected from a large pool of applicants, with a total of $35 million in investments pledged by the show’s panel of notable crypto personalities.

Judges with Clout and Vision

The show’s esteemed panel of judges included prominent Web3 investors and innovators: Brock Pierce, Co-founder of Tether; Kyle Chassé, Founder of Master Ventures; Aly Madhavji, Founder of Blockchain Founders Fund; Magnus Grimeland, CEO of Antler; and Nikita Sachdev, Founder of Luna Media Corp.

These investors didn’t just bring their finances to the table. Alongside monetary support, they provided long-term advisory assistance and access to their valuable networks, positioning CryptoKnights as more than just a pitching show but a platform for sustained growth.

In an industry noted for rapid change and innovation, this group of crypto veterans established a clear objective: to identify the next “unicorn” that could revolutionize the space. As put by Brock Pierce, “CryptoKnights is not merely a show; it’s a movement—a platform where innovation meets opportunity. We’re searching for the Next Big Thing, the next killer app that will change the world.”

From Blockchain Mystique to Mainstream Appeal

What distinguishes CryptoKnights from other investment shows is its ambition to introduce the world of crypto and blockchain technology to a wider audience. Hosted by actor and entrepreneur Adrian Grenier, renowned for his role in Entourage, the show aims to bridge the complexity of Web3 with everyday viewers.

“Web3 can be intricate, but it’s vital for people to grasp its potential,” expressed Grenier. “CryptoKnights bridges that gap, making the technology accessible to everyone.” His role is to navigate viewers through the maze of blockchain, clarifying terms and revealing how crypto’s emerging tools can empower individuals beyond just the tech-savvy.

The cast also includes influencers Kim Lee and Gav Blaxberg, offering perspectives that resonate with diverse audience segments. While Lee, a DJ and personality from Bling Empire, represents the non-technical, mainstream viewpoint, Blaxberg, CEO of Wolf Financial, taps into trends appealing to the younger, Gen Z demographic.

What’s Next for CryptoKnights?

Although Season 1 has concluded, the journey is far from over. The show is scheduled to debut in December, with ongoing negotiations with major platforms for its broadcast. The premiere could propel CryptoKnights towards the broader audience it aims to reach, shifting blockchain discussions from niche circles to living rooms globally.

For Mehta, CryptoKnights signifies more than just an entertainment venture. It serves as a tool for education and engagement, with the objective to showcase how blockchain can foster a more equitable future. “We are dedicated to investing in projects that provide real, tangible solutions and promote meaningful change,” stated Mehta.

And those involved appear confident in the show’s potential to inspire a new wave of crypto adoption and investment. “We will uncover the next unicorn,” reaffirmed Pierce. The projects supported in CryptoKnights’ inaugural season might shape the next decade of blockchain innovation.
