Aurora Tech Award, Sponsor of Lagos Startup Week’s Women Who Launch Track, Honors Female Tech Founders

Nigerian Founder, Folake Owodunni of Emergency Response Africa Emerges Winner of $30,000 Prize Money

Aurora Tech Award, a global prize for female founders of IT and Tech Startups, and an empowering opportunity for female startup founders in the tech industry, announced the winners of its annual global prize at the Lagos Startup Week event. This event, sponsored by Women Who Launch and organized by Prime Startups, recognized five outstanding female founders, with Folake Owodunni, CEO & Founder of Emergency Response Africa from Nigeria, emerging as the recipient of the $30,000 funding prize.

With a focus on bridging the funding gap for female founders in tech and promoting equality in tech entrepreneurship, Aurora Tech Award received 649 applications from female participants worldwide. The winners not only received cash prizes but also mentorship opportunities, access to investors, and media exposure to help grow their ventures. The event also featured panel sessions discussing opportunities for female founders in tech and the challenges they face in the startup ecosystem.

The session highlighted the experiences, successes, and challenges faced by female founders in the tech industry, providing valuable insights for attendees. Nwobu, Co-founder/COO of Sendstack, commended the Aurora Tech Award for its support and mentorship opportunities, emphasizing the need for platforms like this to empower women in tech.

Nadeen Hossam, Partnerships Manager at Aurora Tech Award, emphasized the importance of supporting women-led startups and breaking down barriers in tech entrepreneurship. The organization aims to provide opportunities and support for women entrepreneurs in the IT industry, addressing the challenges they face in accessing funding and resources.

Isioma Utomi, Lead Organiser of the Women Who Launch summit, praised Aurora Tech Award’s commitment to supporting female founders and advocating for their recognition and support in the tech industry. Female founders are encouraged to apply for the Aurora Tech Award and showcase their innovations to the world.

The winners of the 2024 Aurora Tech Award were announced at the Lagos Startup Week event, with Folake Owodunni emerging as the first prize winner for her sustainable solution in emergency medical services.
