CMA Partners with Chamber of Mines of Mozambique to Boost Graphite Market Prospects as Africa’s Critical Mineral Leader

The government of Mozambique has approved the establishment of a state-owned mining company to exploit the country’s critical minerals, including graphite, in which it is the world’s third-largest producer. Mozambique currently only utilizes one third of its graphite resources and mining capacity. The newly established company, Mozambique Mining Exploration Company, aims to increase production and development in the country’s critical mineral sector.

To promote Mozambique’s critical mineral prospects, the Chamber of Mines of Mozambique has partnered with this year’s Critical Mineral Africa (CMA) Summit. Geert Klok, Chairman of the Chamber of Mines of Mozambique, will participate in panel discussions and networking sessions to showcase the latest developments and opportunities for global investors in Mozambique’s critical mineral sector.

The Critical Minerals Africa 2024 Summit on November 6 – 7 aims to position Africa as the primary investment destination for critical minerals. The event coincides with the African Energy Week: Invest in African Energy 2024 conference on November 4 – 8 in Cape Town. Sponsors, exhibitors, and delegates can contact sales@energycapitalpower.com for more information.

“Mozambique’s critical mineral sector presents an opportunity for job creation, economic growth, and contribution to the global industrial revolution. Collaboration between public and private sector entities with global stakeholders is essential to unlock the capital and technologies needed for market growth,” says Rachelle Kasongo, CMA Conference Director.

To boost the mining sector’s contribution to GDP growth, Mozambique is collaborating with global mining stakeholders. This includes exploration activities in Cabo Delgado province with Triton Minerals and Shandong Yulong Gold, as well as work with Tirupati Graphite on the Montepuez Mine. The country is also home to the Balama Graphite Project, the largest graphite mine in the world supplying firms like Tesla and DH Mining.

The Chamber of Mines of Mozambique, as the official representative of the country’s mining sector, will provide insights into the current state and future prospects of the graphite sector at the CMA summit.
