Premier Invest Steps up as Silver Sponsor of African Energy Week (AEW) 2024, Leading the Way in African Energy Investments

Global investment firm Premier Invest recently partnered with energy major Shell to provide funding for oil and gas projects in Africa. Through this collaboration, the two companies will work together to finance transactions in the region, aiming for significant returns while also benefiting local communities and economies.

Premier Invest has become a silver sponsor at the African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energy conference from November 4-8, demonstrating their commitment to promoting energy investment in Africa. Managing Partner Rene Awambeng will also be speaking at the event, sharing insights on how the partnership and other initiatives by Premier Invest will support project development in Africa.

AEW: Invest in African Energy is the leading platform for project operators, financiers, technology providers, and governments, and is the official place to close deals in African energy. For more information about this event, visit www.AECWeek.com.

Currently, Africa only receives less than 5% of global energy-related investment, which hinders the development of large-scale energy projects on the continent, particularly in oil and gas. Premier Invest aims to tackle these challenges by offering financial advisory services such as strategic and M&A advisory, capital markets support, and restructuring. The company provides guidance to business and government leaders, emphasizing both local expertise and global reach.

As Africa sees increased M&A activity, especially in the upstream sector, Premier Invest’s role as a financial advisor becomes crucial. In the first two quarters of 2024, there have been significant oil and gas acquisitions in southern Africa, focusing on frontier exploration and LNG projects. Notable deals include acquisitions in Namibia, Mozambique, and Nigeria, reflecting the growing trend of M&A activity in Africa’s upstream sector. Premier Invest plays a key role in facilitating these transactions to contribute to the continent’s energy development and economic growth.

Earlier this year, Premier Invest signed an agreement with Gabon Oil Company to raise funds for the acquisition of Gabonese oil producer Assala Energy and its assets. This acquisition will enhance Gabon’s energy infrastructure and production capabilities, giving Gabon Oil Company greater control over local assets.

“Premier Invest’s partnerships with Shell and Gabon Oil Company represent a significant step forward for Africa’s energy sector. By promoting investments in African energy projects, the company is not only addressing the continent’s need for financial resources but also driving sustainable economic growth. Its role as a financial advisor is essential in unlocking Africa’s energy potential for long-term prosperity,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber.

During AEW: Invest in African Energy 2024, Premier Invest will use its participation to engage with African leaders, industry stakeholders, and global players to discuss collaborative projects and advancements in Africa’s energy sector. This event serves as an opportunity for Premier Invest to showcase its vision for Africa’s energy future and explore partnerships that can drive progress and innovation.
