An introductory seminar was organized by the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in Giza, as part of a series of seminars and training workshops held in different governorates. The purpose is to create awareness about the initiative’s objectives, categories, and criteria for project nomination in the third cycle. Applications are currently being accepted on the initiative’s website, www.sgg.eg.
During the seminar, Lamia Sameh, Senior Evaluation Officer at the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects under the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, explained the project evaluation criteria. These criteria include the green and smart technological components, economic feasibility, scalability, sustainable impact, and empowerment. Sameh also discussed the stages of the third cycle, which will result in the selection of 18 winning projects.
Omar Bibars, Project Officer at the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, discussed the various categories of the initiative. These categories include large-scale projects, medium-sized projects, small local projects (Decent Life), startup projects, non-profit initiatives, and projects related to women, climate change, and sustainability. Bibars also explained the participation conditions and mechanisms.
Essam Osman, Digital Training Officer at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, elaborated on the concepts of smart projects and smart green projects, emphasizing the key characteristics required in smart green projects.
Hossam Amin, Head of the Central Department for Greater Cairo at the Ministry of Environment, addressed the economic and social aspects of green projects, focusing on the efficient use of natural resources.
Yasmin Sherif, representative of the National Council for Women, highlighted the achievements of women in the initiative’s first cycle and identified the target categories within the initiative.
Riham Karat, Director of the Non-Financial Services Unit at the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, explained the classification of medium, small, and micro projects. She emphasized the importance of a comprehensive business plan and its components in the success of these enterprises.
