Nationals in Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia joyfully celebrated the 33rd Independence Day anniversary with the theme “Peace Anchored on Resilience”.
In Doha, the celebration was attended by many nationals, members of the diplomatic community, and special guests.
The Ambassador of Eritrea to Qatar, Mr. Ali Ibrahim, delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of independence achieved through great sacrifice as the most important national holiday. The festive events held by nationals both within the country and abroad serve as proof of this. Ambassador Ali also praised those who contributed to the success of the event.
Mr. Tahir Al-Reshid, chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee, highlighted the deep meaning of Independence Day in the hearts of Eritrean people and expressed readiness to enhance participation in national affairs.
The celebration included cultural and artistic performances.
In Saudi Arabia, nationals in various cities celebrated the 33rd Independence Day with cultural displays, exhibitions, and traditional dress shows. The event at Nakfa Hall in Riyadh was broadcast live on social media platforms.
Mr. Abdurahman Imam, chairman of the Eritrean community in Riyadh, underscored the importance of Independence Day and the event as part of efforts to pass on the rich history of the Eritrean people to future generations.
Ms. Weini Gerezgiher, Charge d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy, spoke about the values gained through perseverance and patience, highlighting their contributions to the economic and nation-building process. She called for increased participation to capitalize on the current hopeful phase of the nation.
In Dammam, Ms. Weini Gerezgiher and other embassy officials attended the celebration, expressing their commitment to enhancing participation in national development initiatives.
Similarly, nationals in Jeddah, Khamis Mushait, and Al-Namas enthusiastically celebrated the Independence Day anniversary.
In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, nationals celebrated the 33rd Independence Day with patriotic fervor under the theme “Peace Anchored on Resilience” at the Skylight Hotel.
The event was attended by numerous nationals, ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, officials from the African Union and Economic Commission for Africa, and members of the diplomatic community.
Mr. Biniam Berhe, Charge d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy and Permanent Representative of Eritrea, emphasized Eritrea’s development policy focused on self-reliance, avoiding dependency, promoting popular participation, and providing equitable opportunities.
He reaffirmed Eritrea’s commitment to peaceful relations, respect for sovereignty, mutually beneficial partnerships, and constructive engagement based on mutual respect.
Mr. Biniam praised the individuals and institutions involved in organizing the event, including the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, Skylight Hotel, and the Eritrean Embassy’s organizing committee.
