Minister Kuo asserts the importance of enhancing software innovation in Taiwan to remain globally competitive

According to Taiwan’s Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Jyh-hue, Taiwan excels in the semiconductor and hardware industries but lags behind in software development compared to countries like Singapore and South Korea.

Efforts are being made to bridge this gap, as mentioned during the opening ceremony of the Taiwan Innotech Expo at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1.

“Taiwan is leading in artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors development. However, there is a need to enhance the software sector. By collaborating across various government departments, we can strengthen the country,” he emphasized.

“Encouraging international communication and idea sharing is crucial. Events like the Taiwan Innotech Expo serve as platforms for fostering such connections,” the minister explained.

The Innotech expo features participants from various countries showcasing their products and innovations, aiming to inspire innovative developments and global exposure.

The expo, jointly organized by 11 government departments and executed by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), highlights Taiwan’s global competitiveness in R&D with over 1,200 technologies showcased.

In the era of AI applications, the expo features an “AI Theme Area” for exploring smart communities and the impact of AI on future lifestyles. The sustainability pavilion focuses on digital transformation, green energy, and sustainable practices, guiding towards a net-zero emissions future.

Highlighting quantum computing and sports tech, the event attracted prominent figures including Minister of the National Science and Technology Council Chen-Wen Wu and representatives from various ministries.
