Angola, as one of the largest oil and gas producers in Africa, has made strides in creating a business-friendly market by revamping its regulatory environment to attract foreign investment. CLG CEO and Managing Partner Zion Adeoye led a workshop in Luanda, delving into key concepts in oil and gas contracts in Angola and shedding light on the regulatory industry in the country.
Adeoye highlighted the significance of engaging with the local private sector when doing business in Angola’s oil and gas market. He emphasized that local content is a national priority and forming early deals with private sector players is crucial for future dealings with government entities. Adeoye also stressed the importance of local advisors to navigate the legal intricacies of Angola’s oil and gas sector.
Angola has implemented measures to enhance its investment landscape, including offering favorable fiscal terms for onshore exploration and promoting local Angolan companies through a robust local content policy. Adeoye noted that understanding these initiatives is key for international investors looking to secure merger and acquisition deals in Angola’s oil and gas industry.
The AOG 2024 pre-conference provided strategic insights into various segments of the oil and gas value chain in Angola, serving as a precursor to the main event scheduled for October 2-3. These workshops and presentations aim to equip participants with the knowledge needed to navigate the Angolan oil and gas market.
