Italian Expertise and Global Investment to Drive Libya’s Infrastructure Rebuild, Focusing on Power, Transport, and Water Projects

Libya is actively seeking partners to help rebuild its critical infrastructure and support economic recovery. International companies, especially from Europe and the Middle East, are encouraged to join in the country’s reconstruction efforts through public-private partnerships and direct investment. The Libya-Italy Roundtable and VIP Networking Evening, scheduled for September 23 in Rome, will showcase current infrastructure projects and investment opportunities in Libya. Italian construction and engineering firms are particularly highlighted for their expertise in power and transportation systems, which can contribute significantly to the country’s reconstruction.

Italy plays a vital role as a strategic partner in rebuilding Libya’s infrastructure and supporting energy projects. Italian company Bonatti has seen a three-fold increase in contracts since the $8-billion gas deal between Eni and Libya’s National Oil Corporation. Eni, with its deep ties to the Libyan energy sector, is well-positioned to expand its involvement in broader infrastructure projects like gas-fired power plants, renewable energy development, and power grid modernization.

Efforts to revamp Libya’s infrastructure are progressing, with key projects focusing on electricity grids, transportation networks, and water supply systems. The country’s installed generation capacity reached 8,200 MW last year, indicating significant progress in closing the power deficit. Road and airport rehabilitation projects are underway, and plans for railway development and water and sanitation improvement are in place. Foreign investment, particularly from Italian and international companies, is crucial for Libya’s infrastructure rebuilding efforts and long-term economic recovery.

The Libya-Italy Roundtable and VIP Networking Evening event in Rome on September 23 will bring together Libyan and Italian business leaders and government officials. Companies interested in participating can contact sales@energycapitalpower.com.
