President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany at Al-Ittihadiya Palace today. President Steinmeier, accompanied by a delegation of German business executives, is on an official visit to Egypt. A welcoming ceremony was held with the national anthems of both countries being played.
The two Presidents engaged in private talks followed by a meeting with their delegations. President El-Sisi welcomed President Steinmeier’s first visit to Egypt as the President of Germany in 25 years, emphasizing the strong friendship between the two nations. He praised Germany’s industrial and technological progress and expressed Egypt’s eagerness to collaborate on joint projects and benefit from their advancements, particularly through technology transfer and capacity building.
President Steinmeier conveyed Germany’s appreciation for Egypt’s leadership and people, expressing a desire to enhance relations and foster cooperation in various fields like development, investment, energy, migration, and counterterrorism. The German President also mentioned the importance of scientific and cultural ties between the two countries and the opening of the German International University in the New Administrative Capital.
The discussion also touched on regional and international matters, including the conflict in Gaza. President El-Sisi called for an immediate end to the bloody war, stressing the need for an independent Palestinian state and the adoption of a two-state solution in line with international resolutions for sustainable peace and security in the region.
