The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has cautioned about the growing influence of misinformation and disinformation on national development, particularly as the country approaches the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in December.
He has urged all stakeholders, including the Military and other security agencies, to stay vigilant and avoid falling for false information that could lead to unwarranted actions.
Addressing the Joint Graduation Ceremony of the Ghana Armed Forces Command And Staff College Course 45 and the Master Of Science In Defence And International Politics in Accra on Friday, August 23, 2024, Vice President Bawumia commended the Ghana Armed Forces for their role in safeguarding Ghana’s democracy and urged them to safeguard this hard-earned reputation.
He highlighted the security challenges that have accompanied past elections in the country and emphasized the importance of upholding professionalism and discipline, especially in the face of misinformation campaigns targeting various sectors of society.
Vice President Bawumia praised the introduction of courses at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College that reflect the changing security landscape in the West Africa subregion, emphasizing the need for soldiers to adapt to evolving warfare tactics.
He underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in achieving national security objectives and encouraged the graduates to leverage the relationships forged during the course to enhance cooperation and contribute meaningfully to the progress of their respective institutions.
