The African Energy Chamber Stands Apart from Paul Sinclair and Africa Oil Week, Continues Dedication to African Energy Progress

The African Energy Chamber (AEC) (www.EnergyChamber.org) wants to clarify that Paul Sinclair, formerly associated with Africa Oil Week, is not affiliated with the AEC. Any claims suggesting otherwise are strongly denied, and all parties are urged to refrain from spreading misinformation. As the authoritative voice of Africa’s energy sector, accuracy and transparency are valued in all communications.

The AEC would like to provide clarity on Paul Sinclair’s involvement with the organization. While he briefly joined the board, Sinclair withdrew his membership within 24 hours and used his brief association to negotiate a deal with HYVE. There is no ongoing affiliation with Paul Sinclair or his subsequent endeavors.

This incident underscores the importance of accuracy and transparency in communications. As the leading voice in Africa’s energy sector, truthfulness is prioritized, and misinformation is rejected. The AEC and African Energy Week are dedicated to advancing Africa’s energy development, promoting inclusivity, and empowering local talent and resources.

African Energy Week (AEW) and Africa Oil Week (AOW) are separate events. AEW, scheduled for November 4-8 in Cape Town and hosted by the AEC, focuses on advancing African energy and talent development. This year’s theme, Enabling Growth Through an Enabling Environment, highlights the empowerment of Africa’s energy sector and the continent’s potential utilization.

In contrast, AOW, now led by Sankofa Events and Paul Sinclair, has different priorities and orientations. AOW’s past actions, such as moving the event from Africa to Dubai, have shown a lack of support for Africa’s energy sector and local content policies. AEW stands apart with its commitment to inclusivity and the advancement of Africa’s energy future.

The AEC and AEW remain committed to fostering Africa-centric dialogue and solutions. AEW focuses on driving progress in Africa, addressing energy poverty, and supporting local content development, including African youth and women in the energy sector.

“Paul Sinclair has no association with the AEC, and AEW and AOW are separate events. AEW is dedicated to advancing Africa’s energy sector with a focus on inclusivity and local development. Any confusion or misleading claims undermine the progress being made for Africa,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC.

The AEC continues to champion Africa’s energy development, providing a platform for African voices to lead the continent’s energy future.
