Tapway expands in SEA with innovative vision AI platform and strategic partnerships

Tapway CEO Lim Chee How

Tapway recently launched SamurAI, an innovative Vision AI platform that helps organizations analyze video footage and images to derive actionable insights without the need for coding.

The SamurAI platform consists of two main products: SamurAI Copilot and SamurAI Central. It can be utilized in various industries such as policy compliance enforcement, product quality inspection in manufacturing, health, safety, and environment monitoring, product counting in plantations, vehicle tracking, and restaurant hygiene compliance. The platform aims to streamline operations and improve decision-making processes across different applications.

In addition to the launch of SamurAI, Tapway also unveiled a partnership with Asteria, a renowned no-code software development company in Japan. This collaboration will focus on creating an AIoT Suite product bundle that allows users to implement end-to-end solutions by integrating cameras and IoT sensors to trigger smart actions.

Founded by CEO Lim Chee How, Tapway currently operates with a team of approximately 30 members and serves a diverse range of industries. The company plans to raise funding in late 2024 to meet the increasing market demand.

Challenges and Opportunities for AI Startups in SEA

In a recent interview with e27, Lim discussed the challenges faced by AI startups in Southeast Asia. Tapway’s approach involves building products around models trained by major tech companies rather than competing directly with them.

Lim highlighted the growing opportunities in the AI industry as more businesses are open to adopting AI solutions. Tapway aims to capitalize on this trend by integrating the latest Vision AI technology into its platform and making it accessible to users without technical AI expertise.

Future Plans for Tapway

Tapway is planning to introduce several innovative features in the next year to advance its Vision AI technology. This includes integrating an action recognition model training pipeline, enabling users to analyze video content and fine-tune Vision Language Models. The company also aims to expand its market presence in Southeast Asia and enhance its product features to cater to a wider range of industries.

Tapway’s vision is to become a leading provider of no-code Vision AI platforms, offering solutions for operational efficiency, quality control, workforce productivity, and workplace safety. The company’s strategic initiatives involve scaling operations, forming partnerships, and evolving the SamurAI platform to meet customer needs.
