Indiana Fever’s rising popularity secures Indianapolis as host city for 2025 WNBA All-Star Game

Hosting major sporting events is nothing new for Indianapolis, as it is known for hosting Final Fours and the NFL Draft Combine annually. This past February, the city also hosted the NBA All-Star Game. Next summer, Indianapolis will host the WNBA All-Star Game for the first time.

The game is scheduled for July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with the 3-point contest and skills challenge happening on July 18.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert expressed her excitement about bringing the AT&T WNBA All-Star event to Indiana for the first time, praising the city and the state for their passion for basketball.

The announcement comes at a time of increased interest in the Indiana Fever, with notable players like Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston leading the team. The Fever leads the WNBA in attendance for both home and away games this year, showcasing a significant growth compared to the previous season.

The Fever has seen substantial success off the court as well, setting records for sales at the team store and experiencing a surge in social media following and video views.

The Fever broadcasts have set viewership records this season, with one game becoming the most-viewed WNBA game in 23 years. The team’s mascot, Freddy Fever, has also seen a rise in appearance requests.

CEO of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, Mel Raines, highlighted the significance of this moment for women’s basketball and praised the momentum the Fever has built over the seasons.

The Fever, led by Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, have shown improvement after a slow start to the season. Clark leads the league in assists and rookies in points per game, showcasing her versatility on the court.

Indiana Fever, currently in seventh place with an 11-15 record, will face the Phoenix Mercury on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
