The Defence Chiefs agreed to unite resources and enhance their resolve to safeguard stability and democracy in West Africa, recognizing the importance of collaboration in facing these challenges.
The meeting, chaired by General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria and CCDS Chairman, was held at the National Defence Headquarters in Abuja from 7th to 9th August 2024. Security missions, logistical needs, and the deployment of an ECOWAS Security Mission to Sierra Leone were also addressed during the meeting.
The Defence Chiefs approved the deployment of a 1200-strong Mission to Sierra Leone, along with the establishment of necessary infrastructure and logistical support.
