In a harrowing revelation that exposes the atrocities committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Mr. Cheng Pei Ming, the first known survivor of China’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting campaign, spoke to journalist Tasnim Nazeer for The Diplomat about his miraculous survival against all odds.
Cheng publicly disclosed his traumatic experience at a press conference in Washington, D.C., shedding light on his story and the ongoing forced organ harvesting in China. His testimony provided a rare and chilling insight into the horrors faced by prisoners of conscience in China, particularly Falun Gong practitioners. Cheng is believed to be the sole survivor of China’s forced organ harvesting, making his testimony unprecedented in revealing the hidden horrors of this brutal industry.
A Terrifying Experience
Cheng, a resident of a rural village in Shandong Province, endured repeated detentions and torture between 1999 and 2004 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline rooted in Buddhist traditions. The CCP, viewing Falun Gong as a threat to its authority, has labeled it a dangerous cult and has systematically persecuted its followers for years.
From inside a car in Washington, D.C., Cheng recounted, “One day in 2002, I was abruptly moved to Harbin Prison and later to Daqing Prison where I faced even more severe torture.”
Describing the escalating brutality he endured, Cheng recalled a particularly grim incident when he lost consciousness due to torture. “On November 17, 2004, I passed out from torture, only to awaken tied to a hospital bed,” he remembered.
His account took a darker turn as he detailed his hospital ordeal, revealing, “I remember being bound to the hospital bed with doctors and ‘610 Office’ officials present. The ‘610 Office’ is a secretive CCP organization tasked with suppressing Falun Gong.”
Cheng further disclosed repeated operations under duress, fearing for his life. “They insisted on another surgery just days later, making me believe I was facing death,” he shared.
