The Federal Government of Nigeria, along with Digital Free Zones in Nigeria (DiFZIN), appoints committee to establish Digital Free Zone for Technology and Global Service Businesses.

In an effort to enhance the ease of conducting business for digital, finance, knowledge, and service-oriented enterprises globally in Nigeria, the Federal Government of Nigeria has established a steering committee chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. The main objective of this committee is to promote and establish a digital free zone in Nigeria to cater to the unique needs of innovative digital trade and service businesses.

The steering committee, chaired by the President and supported by the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy (HMF/CME) as Vice Chairman, consists of various government officials and private sector stakeholders. The aim is to align Nigeria’s free zone policies with global standards and provide incentives for technology and service businesses to establish operations in Nigeria.

Through the establishment of digital free zones, the Federal Government aims to attract foreign direct investment, create job opportunities, and facilitate the flow of capital into Nigeria’s economy. The focus is on promoting a digitally driven economy and providing opportunities for businesses of all sizes to thrive in Nigeria.

NEPZA’s commitment to digital transformation, the importance of data privacy, and the partnership with DiFZIN to advance digital processes are key components of this initiative. The ultimate goal is to position Nigeria as a hub for technology and services-based businesses in Africa.

DiFZIN and its consortium, along with partners like AFC, are dedicated to modernizing Nigeria’s free trade zones and supporting the growth of Nigeria’s GDP, government revenue, and employment opportunities. The objective is to create an enabling environment for global technology businesses to flourish in Nigeria.

Digital Free Zones are seen as catalysts for innovation and economic growth, leveraging advanced technologies and a supportive regulatory environment. These zones provide a platform for businesses to drive growth and competitiveness, fostering collaboration and experimentation in emerging technologies.
