Predicting the Next Hall of Famer from Each NFL Team: Some Picks are Clear, but Not for the Jets and Lions

Looking ahead to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024 set to be enshrined on Saturday, predictions are already being made about who might be the next in line for Canton.

For some teams, the next inductee is a no-brainer. Larry Fitzgerald is a likely candidate for the Arizona Cardinals, while Antonio Gates is a strong choice for the Chargers. Over in Indianapolis, Reggie Wayne is a probable future Hall of Famer.

On the other hand, some teams lack an obvious candidate for the Hall of Fame. Teams like the New York Jets and Detroit Lions may struggle to identify their next inductee. Meanwhile, franchises like the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars have multiple potential candidates to consider.

Let’s explore some possibilities for potential future Hall of Famers, as suggested by Dan Pompei and Mike Sando, Hall of Fame voters who have covered all AFC and NFC teams respectively.

Larry Fitzgerald, a 11-time Pro Bowl selection and second in all-time receiving yards behind Jerry Rice, is a strong candidate. Julio Jones’ elite performance over eight years also makes him a contender.

Terrell Suggs, a standout defensive player with seven Pro Bowl selections, will also be a strong candidate for the Hall of Fame. Likewise, offensive lineman Matt Birk deserves consideration for his impact on the game.
