One of the great things about the Olympics is discovering new athletes and sports you didn’t know you cared about until you see them. And a pistol shooter with an incredibly cool appearance definitely falls into that category.
Kim caught the attention of the online world after competing in the 10m air pistol event in Paris on Sunday.
Social media users often compared her to a futuristic robo-assassin from an action movie, with GQ describing her as “straight out of a cyberpunk fan-fic” and Glamour questioning if she is “the biggest badass of the Paris Olympics?”
The gear she wore, resembling glasses, is actually a form of technical aid to improve her shooting performance, with one eye blocked by a blinder and the other focused on the target.
Kim made quite an impression with her calm demeanor and steady hand, even wearing a stuffed toy elephant strapped to her belt as a lucky charm from her daughter back home.
Despite not winning the gold medal in the 10m air pistol event, Kim remains confident and determined to aim for gold in the upcoming 25m pistol event.
