FILDA 2024 Concludes with 1,771 Companies and Emphasis on Food Security and Global Partnerships

The 39th edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA) (www.FILDA-Angola.co.ao), which took place from July 23 to 28 in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone, concluded yesterday with great success. The event saw the participation of 1,771 companies with a focus on “Food Security and International Partnerships.”

FILDA, Angola’s largest business fair, was attended by high-profile figures such as the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and various ministers and officials. The event also welcomed international delegations, ambassadors, and diplomats, reinforcing Angola’s commitment to economic diversification and sustainable development.

During the opening ceremony, the importance of FILDA in strengthening local value chains and promoting economic diversification through international partnerships was emphasized by Maria do Rosário Bragança, representing the President of the Republic.

The event organizer, Bruno Albernaz, CEO of Grupo Arena, highlighted the recognition given to the Lunda-Cokwe culture in this edition of FILDA. The event attracted over 80,000 visitors and more than 1,771 companies from various sectors and countries, solidifying Angola’s position as a hub for international business.

International Participation

Italy: Italy was represented by thirteen companies across various sectors and industries, showcasing the strength of their participation. Trade exchanges between Italy and Angola exceeded 840 million euros in the first half of 2024.

Brazil: Brazil had a strong presence with sixteen companies in sectors such as beverages, health, and logistics, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Canada: Canada expressed its intention to expand investments in Angola, particularly in the mining sector, with a commitment of US$6 billion.

FILDA 2024 served as a platform for discussions on logistics, certification, and financial instruments crucial for food security and promoting Angolan products. The fair reflects Angola’s efforts to improve the business environment through reforms. It is a key event for positioning Angola in the global trade and investment landscape.
