President Boakai introduces the Global Fund Grant to fight against HIV, TB, and Malaria

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. officially launched the Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) at the Monrovia City Hall, emphasizing the commitment to combat HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.

In attendance were Minister of Health, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, representatives of NGO community, Global Health Partners, partner governments, foreign diplomats, and esteemed guests. President Boakai expressed gratitude for Global Fund’s support in addressing healthcare challenges in Liberia.

The GC7 grant, totaling US$117,546,670, aims to improve healthcare outcomes. President Boakai highlighted Global Fund’s crucial role in Liberia’s development agenda and emphasized the need for continued progress.

The grant will focus on expanding access to health services, providing medications, and improving infrastructure. Training healthcare professionals and strengthening supply chain management are top priorities.

Innovative strategies will be employed to fight HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria, targeting key populations and reducing stigma. Specific interventions for each disease were outlined in the comprehensive approach.

The GC7 grant will support resilient health systems, aligning with government policies and priorities. President Boakai reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to improving healthcare and expressed gratitude to Global Fund donors.

The launch of GC7 grant signifies a milestone for Liberia’s efforts in healthcare and sets the stage for enhanced resilience and accessibility for all Liberians in combatting HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.
