Afreximbank’s Investment Aims to Boost AfriCaribbean Trade and Cultural Connections

Afreximbank has signed an agreement to provide a Project Preparation Facility for the Government of The Bahamas to develop an Afro-Caribbean Marketplace. This marketplace will feature outlets selling African and Caribbean products from various countries, creating a cultural and trade hub in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. The project aims to boost economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen ties between African and Caribbean nations. The facility funding will help advance the project and unlock further investments.

Prof. Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank, praised the initiative, stating the importance of the marketplace in connecting Africa and the Caribbean. The Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Hon. Philip Edward Davis, and Minister for Grand Bahama, Hon. Ginger Moxey, also expressed their support for the project and its potential to drive economic and cultural growth.

The agreement was signed by representatives from Afreximbank and the Government of The Bahamas, with the support of key officials. This transformative project is set to enhance trade, culture, and innovation in Grand Bahama, strengthening ties between the island and Africa.
