Afreximbank and BDEAC enhance cooperation with MoU signing

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and Banque De Développement des Etats de L’Afrique Centrale (BDEAC) to formalize their cooperation and collaboration in promoting trade and economic development in the Central Africa region.

The MoU, signed at the recent Afreximbank Annual Meetings in the Bahamas, aims to strengthen the existing relationship between the two institutions and enhance their joint efforts to support Africa’s economic development agenda. Through this collaboration, they will engage in various initiatives such as equity participation, project co-financing, capacity building, and information exchange.

The cooperation framework outlined in the MoU is expected to drive structural transformation in the CEMAC region by focusing on infrastructure development, sustainability initiatives, and trade finance. Mrs. Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice President at Afreximbank, emphasized the significance of this partnership in advancing integration projects and facilitating long-term growth for both institutions.

The MoU was signed by Jean Paterne Megne Ekoga, Vice-President of BDEAC, and Mrs. Kanayo Awani on behalf of Afreximbank. This collaboration marks a strategic partnership to expand interventions in support of the member states of CEMAC and the implementation of the AfCFTA.

The Afreximbank Annual Meetings concluded on 15 June and included the third AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2024). For media inquiries, contact Vincent Musumba, Manager of Communications and Events at Afreximbank.
