Advancing Natural Gas Monetization in Nigeria: Tetracore Commissions Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Breaks Ground on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Facility

Phase one of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility in Nigeria has been commissioned by Tetracore, an integrated energy solutions provider. This marks a significant milestone in enhancing the country’s natural gas distribution infrastructure. Tetracore has also begun construction on a modular Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility, which will not only expand the company’s oil and gas portfolio but also advance monetization in Nigeria.

The African Energy Chamber (AEC), a strong advocate for natural gas development in Africa, praises these accomplishments as vital steps towards alleviating energy poverty in the continent. Under the leadership of Managing Director Olakunle Williams, Tetracore is making remarkable progress in promoting industrialization and electrification in Africa through natural gas development. The commissioning of the facility precedes the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energy conference in November, providing a platform for advancing African energy projects and signing deals.

The development of Tetracore’s CNG facility, with a capacity of 3.1 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d), aligns with Nigeria’s Decade of Gas initiative, promoting gas as a catalyst for industrial growth. Situated in Ogun State on the Benin-Sagamu Express Road, the facility aims to enhance gas availability along Nigeria’s Western-Southern corridor, home to major industrial clusters. Tetracore plans to double the capacity of the project to 6.2 MMscf/d in the future to meet increasing demand as industrialization progresses in Nigeria.

In addition to the CNG facility, Tetracore has also initiated the construction of a modular LNG facility with a planned capacity of 10 MMscf/d. This facility will diversify the company’s energy offerings and contribute to Nigeria’s energy independence by providing environmentally-friendly energy sources for industries like transportation and power generation.

Tetracore’s projects in Africa are a part of the company’s strategy to develop sustainable energy solutions across the continent. These projects are crucial for ensuring energy security and driving the energy transition in Africa, providing reliable and cleaner energy options,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC.
