Suzuki Griquas claimed their first major trophy in a decade by winning the SA Cup in a thrilling final against the Airlink Pumas, with a final score of 46-24 at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley.
From the beginning, Suzuki Griquas took the lead and dominated the match, eventually securing the victory in front of a large home crowd. The Peacock Blues delivered a masterclass in the first half, establishing a 29-0 lead before half-time.
Despite a strong comeback attempt by the Airlink Pumas in the second half, Suzuki Griquas managed to hold on to their lead and seal the win with two quick tries towards the end of the game. George Whitehead, the team’s flyhalf, was a standout player, contributing 19 points through a try, conversions, and penalty goals.
The match saw several yellow cards and penalties, with both teams showing determination and resilience throughout the game. In the end, Suzuki Griquas emerged victorious, claiming the SA Cup title.
