South Africa’s transport industry plays a crucial role in the country’s development. However, it faces challenges such as aging infrastructure, skills shortages, and slow adaptation to new technologies.
To address these issues, the 42nd annual Southern African Transport Conference (SATC) will take place from 8 to 11 July at the CSIR in Pretoria, South Africa. The theme of this year’s conference is “Upskilling and Reskilling the Transport Industry for Current and Future Challenges” and is endorsed by the International Road Federation with the Minister of Transport as the Patron.
The conference will include keynote speakers, plenary sessions, panel discussions, and technical presentations. Keynote speakers include Ms Maphefo Anno-Frempong, Ms Victoria Sheehan, and Engr. Ms Abimbola Akinajo, among others.
Ms Thenjiwe Mthintso will be the keynote speaker for the International Women in Transport session.
SATC is a premier event in the transport sector, bringing together professionals, policymakers, researchers, and industry experts to discuss innovative solutions to industry challenges.
This year’s conference will feature peer-reviewed technical papers, plenary sessions, panel discussions, and technical presentations on transport policy, strategy, and technological applications across all modes of transport.
Dr Mathetha Mokonyama, SATC Chairman, is looking forward to engaging discussions and collaborations to shape the future of the transport industry in the region.
