Congo Applauds Collaboration with African Development Bank, Calls for Increased Climate Funding

The government of Congo has praised the African Development Bank Group for its crucial support in the nation’s development, particularly in infrastructure, where the Bank is seen as a key partner.

During a three-day visit by the African Development Bank Group’s Vice-President for Regional Development, Integration and Business Delivery, Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade, government representatives commended the Bank for its support in infrastructure development and engaged in political dialogue to further support the Bank’s operations.

Minister of State for Regional Development, Infrastructure, and Road Maintenance, Jean-Jacques Bouya, expressed appreciation for the positive cooperation with the African Development Bank in the infrastructure field and highlighted the Bank’s funding of various infrastructure projects in the country.

The Bank has played a significant role in funding infrastructure projects in Congo, such as road construction and fiber-optic networks. Minister Bouya also discussed potential hydroelectric dam studies with the Bank to address the energy deficit in the country.

Other government ministers also highlighted the need for capacity building, optimization of development assistance, and support for agricultural and environmental initiatives. Discussions also took place regarding the Bank’s new Ten-Year Strategy and the possibility of opening a Country Office in Congo.

The delegation from the Bank included various officials, and the visit aimed at strengthening the partnership between the Bank and Congo for continued development and progress.
