Merck Foundation (www.Merck-Foundation.com) in partnership with African First Ladies and Ministries of Health and Medicals societies has awarded over 760 scholarships for one-year Post-Graduate Diplomas and two-year Master’s Degrees in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity to doctors from 52 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
These scholarships are part of the total 1810 scholarships provided by Merck Foundation to doctors from 52 countries in 42 critical and underserved medical specialties such as Oncology, Sexual and Reproductive Care, Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, and more.
Merck Foundation has launched animated films like “Mark’s Pressure” and “Sugar Free Jude” to raise awareness about early detection and prevention of Hypertension and Diabetes, promoting a healthy lifestyle among children and youth in Africa and beyond.
The Pan African TV Program “Our Africa” by Merck Foundation addresses social and health issues like Diabetes and Hypertension, promoting Healthy Lifestyle through “Fashion and ART” directed by Merck Foundation CEO, Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej.

Merck Foundation marks ‘World Hypertension Day 2024’ by providing scholarships for young doctors to transform patient care in the fields of Hypertension, Cardiology, Diabetes, and Endocrinology, and by raising awareness about these issues in Africa and beyond.
Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation stated, “At Merck Foundation, we mark ‘World Hypertension Day’ by improving access to quality care in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.”
Merck Foundation has provided scholarships for doctors in various specialties to create a platform of experts nationwide.
Merck Foundation also launched Fellowship Programs in India to further improve Cardiovascular, Hypertension, and Diabetes care in Africa and other developing countries.
Dr. Victoria Mumbo, Merck Foundation alumnus from Kenya expressed her gratitude for the scholarship opportunities provided by Merck Foundation.
Merck Foundation in partnership with African First Ladies released a children’s storybook and animated film “Mark’s Pressure” to raise awareness about Hypertension and its prevention.
