XYO Introduces Native Operating System, Empowering the Creation of a Free Internet

XYO, a web3 protocol designed to improve the validity, certainty, and value of data, has launched the beta version of its native operating system, xyOS.

Founded in 2018, XYO is one of the earliest and largest DePINs globally. The company’s latest innovation, xyOS, integrates advanced data sovereignty technologies and enhanced usability features, to make decentralized and sovereign internet experiences more accessible to users.

The public release of xyOS represents a pivotal moment for XYO, as it offers users from all backgrounds the ability to confidently navigate blockchain-based applications. The new operating system also provides users with the tools to reclaim ownership of their online interactions, a move seen as a paradigm shift towards greater digital autonomy.

“The beta launch of xyOS is a crucial milestone in our mission to cultivate a sovereign internet for everyone,” said Arie Trouw, Co-founder and CEO of XYO.

Trouw emphasized the contrast between the current, risk-prone Web2 environment and the secure, user-centric experience promised by xyOS.

Designed with a familiar graphical interface reminiscent of popular operating systems like those of iPhones and Windows PCs, xyOS aims to bridge the gap between complex decentralized technologies and everyday digital needs. It enables straightforward access to the XYO platform, network, and an array of decentralized applications (dApps), which are now just a click or tap away.

One of the key features of xyOS is its emphasis on data sovereignty. The operating system ensures that all user data is stored locally, granting users complete control over their information with the ability to modify or delete it at their discretion. This functionality not only simplifies the setup process for nodes within the XYO DePIN but also provides users with real-time insights into the network’s operations.

xyOS comes equipped with a suite of core and default dApps, including Profile, Settings, System Health, and Name Service, along with additional tools like Quick Search and OS Theming. These features allow users to customize their digital identities and preferences, facilitating peer-to-peer interactions and paving the way for third-party dApp development.

Trouw added, “With xyOS, users are no longer bound by the limitations of centralized platforms. They can explore, create, exchange, and connect with confidence, knowing their engagements are truly their own.”

“The future of the internet is in our hands, and with xyOS, navigating the online world no longer means leaving our data vulnerable or decentralized technology uncharted,” XYO said in a statement.
