El-Sisi, Egyptian President, Holds Meeting with Speakers of Arab Parliaments at Arab Parliament Conference

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments at the sixth Conference of the Arab Parliament in Cairo. Also in attendance were Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Arab Parliament, Mr. Adel Bin AbdulRahman Alasoomi, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Hanafy Gebaly.

Speaking on behalf of the Presidency, Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy mentioned that the Speakers congratulated President El-Sisi on his new term, showing faith in his leadership and the country’s development. The President highlighted the importance of Arab Councils and Parliaments in advancing Arab integration, ensuring security, development, and stability, as well as advocating for Arab issues in international forums through parliamentary diplomacy.

President El-Sisi praised the Arab Parliament for addressing topics like Artificial Intelligence to tackle modern challenges and emphasized Egypt’s support for joint parliamentary efforts. The Speakers welcomed Egypt’s leadership role in this regard.

The meeting discussed regional developments, emphasizing the need for unified Arab positions to address crises and support nation-states and their institutions for the welfare of Arab peoples.

The participants also discussed the situation in Palestinian Territories, commending Egypt’s support for the Palestinian cause and rejection of displacement. They praised Egypt’s humanitarian aid efforts despite obstacles.

President El-Sisi discussed efforts to achieve peace in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of stopping violence and supporting the Palestinian people’s rights, including an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
