For 60 Years, the Eastern Africa Association (EAA) (www.EasternAfricaAssociation.org) has been dedicated to promoting trade and investment between the UK and East Africa. Through networking events, information sharing, and direct support for members facing challenges, the EAA has played a vital role in fostering economic development in the region.
This year, the EAA is celebrating its 60th anniversary, reflecting on its positive impact on East Africa’s economy over the past six decades. The association has encouraged international investment during periods of growth and provided support during times of political turmoil.
EAA Chairman Lord Valentine Cecil stated, “We are proud of our efforts to promote long-term trade and investment in East Africa, creating opportunities across multiple sectors and supporting sustainable development in the region. The 500 companies within the EAA network employ around 10,000 people in East Africa.”
Established in Kenya and the UK in 1964, the EAA has evolved into a crucial business information service for regional and foreign investor corporations. It remains focused on strengthening economic ties, understanding political landscapes, and assisting members in navigating the East African markets.
The EAA will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a gala event on 29th May, starting with a Market Close Ceremony at the London Stock Exchange. This event, followed by a VIP Reception and Gala Dinner, will bring together industry leaders with a common interest in the East and Horn of Africa.
Mr. Abi Ajayi, Head of Africa and Middle East Primary Markets at the London Stock Exchange (LSEG), confirmed the market close ceremony in honor of the EAA’s diamond jubilee. He emphasized the LSEG’s efforts to strengthen the connection between the London Stock Exchange and Africa’s capital markets, promoting global investment into Africa. Ajayi congratulated the association on its milestone and expressed excitement about hosting the EAA’s Market Close ceremony.
