The Host Agreement Signing Ceremony for the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 (IATF2025) occurred in Algiers on 15 April 2024. The Ceremony, hosted by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) (www.Afreximbank.com), in collaboration with the African Union, AfCFTA Secretariat, and the Government of Algeria, sets the stage for the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair to be held from 4 – 10 September 2025 in Algiers.
H.E. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairperson of the IATF2025 Advisory Council and Former President of Nigeria, praised the Intra-African Trade Fair as a prominent trade and investment event in Africa. He emphasized the significance of the IATF2025 Hosting Agreement in maintaining the tradition of excellence and innovation in promoting intra-African trade and continental integration.
Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice President at Afreximbank, highlighted the role of the Intra-African Trade Fair in expanding African trade and deepening knowledge of the continent’s trading environment. She expressed appreciation to the Government of Algeria for their continuous support for the Intra-African Trade Fair.
A statement on behalf of H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, underscored the importance of the Intra-African Trade Fair in enhancing intra-African trade and investments without external assistance, serving as a beacon of hope and opportunity for Africa.
A statement on behalf of H.E. Ambassador Albert Muchanga, African Union Commissioner, emphasized the transformative potential of the AfCFTA in boosting intra-African trade, creating jobs, alleviating poverty, and enhancing the continent’s manufacturing and industrial base.
In his Closing Remarks, Jean-Louis Ekra, Former President of Afreximbank, commended the collective efforts towards promoting intra-African trade and investment and driving positive change for a better future in Africa.
The Ceremony was attended by various public and private sector institutions, African diplomatic corps, financial institutions, and trade associations to raise awareness about the upcoming IATF2025.
Attendees also had the opportunity to visit the venue for IATF2025, the Algerian Company of Fairs and Exports (SAFEX).
The Intra-African Trade Fair serves as a premier trade and investment event in Africa, offering a platform for exhibitors to showcase goods, engage in B2B and B2G exchanges, network, establish new contacts, and conclude business deals. The event features insightful discussions on trade and investment topics at the IATF Trade and Investment Forum.
The highly successful third edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2023) in Cairo attracted thousands of delegates, exhibitors, and media and resulted in substantial trade and investment deals being concluded.
