President Ruto Urges Doctors in Kenya to Live Within Their Means

President William Ruto has emphasized the importance of doctors understanding the government’s limitations when it comes to their salaries and allowances.

While acknowledging the valuable role doctors and interns play in the health sector, the President highlighted the need for the country to live within its means.

“The resources available can only afford to pay KSh70,000 to intern doctors, which is a stipend for one year. Afterward, they will be employed,” he explained.

During a church service at Africa Inland Church (AIC) Fellowship Eldoret in Uasin Gishu county, President Ruto stated that the government has the necessary funds to compensate all 1,500 doctor interns at KSh70,000 per month.

He also mentioned the government’s efforts to reduce the country’s wage bill from 47 per cent to the legal requirement of 35 per cent.

President Ruto announced plans for Kenya to host a conference addressing the nation’s wage bill, scheduled for April 15 to 17.

Reducing the wage bill, according to the President, will free up resources for youth opportunities and funding essential programs like healthcare and education.

Furthermore, the government aims to decrease its budget from KSh4.2 trillion to KSh3.7 trillion.

President Ruto encouraged honest discussions among Kenyans on key issues affecting the country and assured his commitment to making decisions that benefit the nation in the long run.

He also urged farmers to take advantage of the rainy season to increase food production and contribute to the country’s food security goals.

Overall, President Ruto emphasized the importance of living within the country’s financial means and making prudent decisions to benefit all Kenyans.
