Wang Sheng, Chargé d’Affaires, Represents China at Handover Ceremony of $500,000 Humanitarian Aid in Cash to Zambia

On 3 April, Chargé d’Affaires Wang Sheng and Hon. Situmbeko Musokotwane, Minister of Finance and National Planning of Zambia, jointly attended the handover ceremony of $500,000 humanitarian assistance in cash from the Chinese Government to Zambia.

Mr. Wang mentioned the cholera outbreak in Zambia in January and how the Chinese Government quickly provided assistance to help control the situation. The $500,000 aid is intended to support the Zambian Government in improving sanitation and water supply to prevent future outbreaks. China will continue to assist Zambia in areas such as vaccine production, water supply projects, and drought relief efforts.

Dr. Musokotwane expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Chinese Government in combating the cholera epidemic in Zambia since October 2023. Despite effective control measures and support, the threat of cholera still exists, and the assistance from China has been crucial in the fight against the disease.

Both countries have supported each other in development efforts and will continue to work together to address global challenges for a more peaceful and prosperous world.
