Singapore-based SaaS health tech company MiyaHealth has expanded its presence in Indonesia and the Philippines by extending its product suites, MiyaPayor and MiyaProvider, through strategic partnerships.
These partnerships aim to improve healthcare access and efficiency in underserved markets by leveraging innovative technological solutions. By collaborating with a third-party administrator (TPA) and a leading hospital group in Indonesia, as well as Health Maintenance, Inc. (HMI) in the Philippines, MiyaHealth is focused on enhancing the overall patient experience in both countries.
These developments follow MiyaHealth’s recent milestones of closing its Pre-Series A funding round in Q42023 and obtaining the ISO 13845:2016 Certification and CE Mark.
“We have recognized the importance of product differentiation, customization, and certifications in meeting client needs and establishing credibility. This has given us a competitive advantage over other options,” says Dr. Ramesh Rajentheran, CEO and Co-Founder of MiyaHealth, in an email interview with e27.
Founded in 2019, MiyaHealth builds and operates digital infrastructure for healthcare, offering product suites like MiyaPayor, MiyaPatient, and MiyaProvider. The company utilizes AI and ML technology for data capture, processing, and interoperability across the healthcare ecosystem.
While other players in the industry focus on either health tech or insurtech, MiyaHealth aims to serve all aspects of healthcare by enhancing interoperability between health systems to improve patient outcomes.
In an interview, Dr. Rajentheran discusses MiyaHealth’s strategy for entering the Indonesian and Filipino markets and upcoming plans for the company.
What drives you into these markets? What opportunities do you want to seize there? What is your strategy?
Expanding into Indonesia and the Philippines aligns with our mission to address healthcare needs in these markets. Both countries offer growth opportunities due to low insurance penetration rates and infrastructure challenges. Our strategy involves working with partners to enhance healthcare quality and efficiency, catering to the evolving demands of patients.
Can you share a fascinating insight about your users in Indonesia and the Philippines that you learned recently?
Both countries have underpenetrated private health insurance markets, indicating potential for insurers to expand. The emergence of middle-income groups has driven increased investment in healthcare services, supported by mobile-centric healthcare access.
What are your targets for these two markets?
In the next 12 months, we aim to introduce MiyaProvider and MiyaPatient in the Philippines while expanding commercialization efforts into future markets. Our goal is to establish long-term partnerships and onboard more local team members to support our initiatives.
What other plans do you have this year?
Our main focus for 2024 is securing funding for our Series A round to enhance our product offerings and technological capabilities. We also plan to expand operations and partnerships, strengthen our leadership team, and scale global health systems to meet evolving patient needs.
